Venturing is for young men and women ages 14 to 20. It includes challenging high-adventure activities, sports, and hobbies for teenagers which teach them leadership skills, provide opportunities to teach others, and give them an opportunity to learn and grow in a supporting, caring, and fun environment.

Venturing Awards

Venturing provides a series of awards designed for the interest and needs of older scouts. These include:
  • Bronze Award - Can be earned in any of five categories of individual interest: Sports, Religious Life, Arts and Hobbies, Outdoor, or Sea Scout.
  • Silver Award - provides experiences which will lead you on a pathway of exciting life experiences that will guide you to become a skilled Venturing leader.
  • Gold Award - has been developed to recognize a significant accomplishment in a young person's life; it requires outstanding performance in a broad spectrum of activities. The program was developed to challenge and to motivate young people over an extended period of time.
  • Ranger Award - is to encourage Venturers to achieve a high level of outdoor skills proficiency; recognize achievement of this high level of outdoor skills proficiency; provide a path for outdoor/high-adventure skills training; and establish Rangers as a highly trained leadership resource for crews, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the community.
  • Quartermaster Award for Sea Scouting - The Quartermaster Award, which stands for excellence, goes to the young adult who attains the highest rank in Sea Scouting. The award is a reminder that as a ship needs a rudder, a compass, and a moving force to reach its destination, so an individual must be physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight to achieve worthwhile goals in life.
