The Bucks County Council Historical Committee is a group of dedicated Scouter volunteers who maintain a large collection of Boy Scout memorabilia. Our motto is "Promoting Scouting's future by preserving Scouting's past" The committee maintains a display case in the council office which is updated regularly with items of both local and national interest. We also have provided displays for council and Ajapeu lodge functions, and were a part of the National Art Endowment Tour at the Doylestown County-Club last year. We have available a portable display of uniforms and books from Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, & Explorers for use at Blue & Gold Banquets, Eagle Courts of Honor and Recruitment days or events for units in the council. Contact the council office to reserve the display for your next event.

The Historical Committee is charged with five purposes:

  1. To assure that the history of Scouting in Bucks County is preserved for all future generations of Scouting.
  2. To serve as a repository for important historical items of local interest, including all information regarding the Council, Ajapeu Lodge, and units in the County.
  3. To serve as a screening organization for all donations of Scouting memorabilia donated to the Council, so that items of historical significance can be retained.
  4. To provide historical displays for any and all Scouting functions in the Council where an awareness of the importance of Scouting and it's History is desired.
  5. To construct a permanent home for items, such as a museum, so that all that wish to enjoy these items, including the general public, will have an opportunity to do so. This final purpose is a long range one.

The Council Historical Committee is attempting to confirm the origin of what may be the first patch used by Ajapeu Lodge 33. The attached picture is a patch known to have been used at Camp Buccou in the late 1920's.
