Where are we camping?

Units will have campsites on the grounds of the Grange Fair. We'll be grouping Troops together and Packs together and Crews Together. The size of your site will depend on the number of people your unit has registered.

 

What about food? How is that working? What should we expect? What should we bring?

Your unit can purchase food for the weekend. there will be a full service concession where you can purchase breakfast sandwiches & Hot beverages, Lunch and dinner items such as hot dogs, burgers and chicken nuggets, fries, & fried Oreos. You can purchase cold drinks and snacks. You can also bring cooking gear and propane stoves and prepare your own meals in your campsite. There are no ground fires permitted. Many units are planning on preparing easy breakfasts, purchasing their lunches and preparing their own dinners. It's up to you and your comfort level. Plus there's always a hungry scout around who'd probably like to help you if you need it.

 

What is up with the picnic tables?

Picnic tables, limited quantity, are available for units to rent at check-in when you arrive on Friday.  Each table rental is $5 and we would work with identifying a few Boy Scouts to help you move them over to the camp site.  They would then need to be returned back to the designated area before you leave on Sunday.

 

How does ticketing work? Are we able to pay for the day when we arrive Saturday?

Ticketing is available in advance at this page or at the registration area on arrival on Saturday. We would really appreciate it if you'd register in advance as it makes planning much easier for all the workers putting on this event.

 

What about that deposit? We thought we were registered when that was paid.

The deposit you may have made was for advance reservation for a camp site. It helped us to estimate the number of units we could expect. It merely saved you a campsite. To fully register you will need to find out how many Scouts and Adults will be attending and go to this page to register. Any deposits your unit made will then be credited against your final balance.

 

What should Scouts and Adults pack?

Pack enough personal clothing for a normal 3 day weekend. Of course you'll want to wear or bring your Scout uniform. Casual wear should include scouting related t-shirts. Make sure to bring rain gear should the weather turn bad. Make sure to bring hats, sun screen and comfortable shoes. It's always good to throw in a sweatshirt or sweater in case it gets cool at night. Bring a water bottle and a folding camp chair. If you are cooking be sure to bring a plate, bowl and utensils. you'll want a flashlight to see at night and don't forget your camera for cool BucksJam photos.

 

What should units pack?

Units should bring enough tents for everyone to stay comfortably. Be aware of Youth Protection Regulations regarding your tenting arrangements. If your unit will be preparing food, be sure to bring a propane stove. Groundfires are not permitted. Bring cooking gear and cleanup gear. Be sure to bring water jugs to haul and store water. Make sure you bring your Pack, Troop or Crew flag. Bring Lanterns or other lighting means for your site at night. Every unit camping should have a First Aid kit.

 

What kind of facilities are there?

There will be lots of Porta-potties. You will be able to fill water containers and bottles. We will have a full service food concession where you may purchase your meals for the weekend. There will be a trading post for snacks, souvenirs and fun stuff. We will have a First Aid Station manned 24/7. There will also be an experienced commissioner staff available in your camping area should any problems arise.
