Dear Scouters,

As a child, I had the opportunity to watch my parents work and struggle every day to make a better life for themselves and for me as well.  I learned a number of lessons from them along the way.  I would like to share just a few of them ..........

Friends of Scouting

Friends of Scouting is a critical yearly fundraising campaign that assists the Bucks County Council in offsetting program costs and providing quality service. The true cost of Scouting is much greater than what local dues and event or camping fees cover.

Membership
Recruitment should be a year round effort for each unit. The more youth we serve in our programs means Scouting will have a bigger impact on the communities we serve.

Popcorn

Popcorn is coming and Council Kernel Adrienne Rubin is Popping with excitement about this year’s sale! Popcorn enables your unit to do the things you want without having to do numerous fund raisers.  By selling popcorn in the fall, it can support the entire year of scouting for your unit.  Not only does it help raise funds for your unit but there are plenty of rewards for your scouts as well.  Dens and patrols can earn prizes, gift cards, scholarship money, and for all scouts who sell $600 or more, they can get their very own Sky Rockets set which consists of a foot launcher, 2 light-up night rockets, and 3 daytime rockets!

Ockanickon Scout Reservation

Provisional camping allows Scouts to participate in OSR’s program when their troop isn’t at camp. This program is perfect for Scouts who can’t attend with their unit or for Scouts that wish to come to camp again. How do I register to attend?

Pennsbury District

On the weekend of May 16, 17, and 18, just over 1800 scouts and scouters converged on Middletown Grange for BUCKSJAM14, hopefully the first of many BUCKSJAMS to come. Friday night was a little on the soggy side, but Saturday could not have been better. Congratulations go to the Bucks County Council planners, the scouters who helped make things happen, and to all of the units who participated.  BUCKSJAM was a success.
